Not Your ‘Run of the Mill’ TrusteeNot Your ‘Run of the Mill’ Trustee

Typically, trustees are tasked with administrating the funds accrued by a charity, determining how and where they are spent. At The One Foundation, however, our trustees are always prepared to go that extra mile…quite literally!

Lindsey McMurray, who heads the Equity Finance business of RBS, will be running the Marathon Des Sables on 31st March in aid of The One Foundation. Billed as the toughest footrace on earth, the marathon covers 243km over 6 days – that’s equivalent to 5 1/2 regular marathons! What’s more, competitors have to carry everything they need for the journey (aside from their tent) on their backs in a rucksack. Water is rationed and handed out in stages, while 15-20% of the terrain covered is sand dunes. With mid-day temperatures reaching up to 120°F, this race is definitely not for the fainthearted.

Lindsey has completed the Marathon Des Sables once before in 2007, vowing never to take part again.  However, in 2010 she became the Co-Chair of The One Foundation and, following a trip to Malawi last September to see the positive impact our projects were having on thousands of people, she decided that our cause was one worth running for.

Please show your support for Lindsey at http://www.justgiving.com/Lindsey-McMurray by sponsoring her to run - definitely for the last time!
