Self Help Africa
Last week I had a meeting with Clare from Self Help Africa. She told me how they make a difference to poor farmers in Africa - they show them how to grow enough food to feed them and their family and to earn a living.
Self reliance is important; the farmers do not receive hand outs or aid. They are given seeds, tools and training and education. Also they are expected to pay back in to the project. For example when they have excess seeds from their harvest they are expected to pay back what they originally received.
They operate in lots of different counties including Eritrea, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Togo, Uganda, Zambia and Burkina Faso. I am proud One Vitamin Water is funding vegetable gardens and this week we funded five vegetable gardens.
