Yemen

In December 2016 we responded to an emergency appeal for clean water provision in Yemen, where years of internal conflict have taken its toll on the population. With 3.2 million people now internally displaced and over 60% of the population reliant on aid, war-torn Yemen is in the midst of a humanitarian crisis.

Project details

The fighting is a result of a political conflict between the Houthis-Shia rebels loyal to ex-President Saleh – and mostly Sunni militias loyal to the current President Hadi. Hadi is supported by Saudi Arabia who, along with its allies, has launched brutal air strikes against the Houthi rebels.

18.8 million people are now in desperate need of help, lacking access to food, safe drinking water and sanitation. We are working with one of the world’s leading humanitarian agencies to provide clean drinking water to over 13,000 people during the crisis by repairing broken water systems in Hajjah, Hodeidah, Amran and Taiz City.
