What a year! And it's all thanks to you

Raising over £3 million, funding 421 PlayPumps®, giving more than 850,000 people access to clean drinking water. And that’s not the whole story!

Amazing meetings with the likes of Desmond Tutu, Gordon Brown and Bill Clinton.

Six awards - Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of The Year, an Honorary Doctorate for Duncan from The University of Sunderland, the ‘Brands with a Conscience’ Award from the Medinge Group, and most recently, the Best Large Social Enterprise in the UK Award (thank you for voting for us!)

And not only did Duncan win ‘Entrepreneur of The Year’ at the European Business Awards - he also won the 2009 Ruban d’Honneur European Business Award! Pheeeew...! We need a bigger shelf!

Finally, there are some great new additions to the One family – One Hand Sanitiser, One Bathroom Tissue and One Liquid Handwash; all funding sanitation projects in Africa. And for those last minute Christmas presents try our new online shop!

2010 – and our One Big Idea
is about Malawi…

Next year our focus is on one of the world’s poorest and most underdeveloped nations - Malawi, and we’ve launched The One Big Idea competition to help find the next One product to support the people of Malawi.

Launched By Dawn Butler, MP and judged by BBC Dragons Duncan Bannatyne and Doug Richard amongst others, the One Big Idea is your chance to be the next social entrepreneur and design your very own One branded product. Read more about the One Big Idea competition here.

November high points

Last month Duncan and Julie were guests at No. 10 Downing Street to receive the ‘Best Large Social Enterprise in England’ award from Gordon Brown – and Global Ethics went on to win the award for Best Large Social Enterprise in the UK! (That’s best out of some 62,000…) Read more

Fun in Lesotho...

We had some lovely feedback about the Playpump® from one of our schools in Lesotho and wanted to share this with you:

Q: Do children play on it?

A: They always play on it. Sometimes the children would ask to go to the toilet to play on the PlayPump!

Robbie had One

Robbie Williams staged a fabulous comeback performance at The Royal Albert Hall this year, pulling in an awesome audience of 530,000 people.

And his preferred tipple on stage?

Yup, you’ve guessed it… One Water!
