Meet Mamathe
Ms. Mamathe Makwana’s is head teacher of Ha Malere Primary School. Most of her pupils live in nearby villages and have to walk 12km each day to get to school and back. And if that wasn’t already tough enough, about 20% of the children have been orphaned due to AIDS, and are looked after by siblings – who are often only a couple of years older than them. The PlayPump funded on sales of One Water, can’t wash away all of their problems, but it’s helping to make life a little bit easier for Ms. Mamathe and her pupils. It gives the children the chance to play and have a lot of fun, as well as providing water.
