NutritionNutrition

Around 925 million people do not have enough to eat in the world 98% of them live in developing countries. Hunger and malnutrition has a huge impact on a child’s development and, as a result, around 28% of all children in the developing world are underweight or experience stunted growth.

Working with the poorest farming families in rural African communities, we fund vegetable garden projects to help them grow enough food to feed themselves, plus a little bit extra to sell. That way, they can earn enough to see them through times when harvests fail. Through the provision of start-up kits, equipment and training, we enable families to become self-sufficient and to grow more nutritional food to keep their loved ones healthy.

We fund a number of different projects:

  • Eggs - funding community egg farming projects in Malawi, providing a sustainable source of food and income for those people who need it most
  • Vegetable gardens - providing communities with start-up kits, equipment and training so they can be more self sufficient and grow more nutritional food
  • Seed banks – providing seedlings and seeds, equipment and training to grow crops for market. Each new farmer commits to putting back 1.5 times the number of seeds into the seed bank, to build a sustainable cycle.

So every time you buy a bottle of One Vital Water you should get an extra boost from knowing that 100% of the profit goes towards supporting these projects.
