I guess I’m ‘Little Miss Everything’, if you need to know something, come to Nikki. I have a wide range of responsibilities ranging from donor communications, case studies, to supporting the marketing team on various campaigns/projects. Everyday the team have me doing weird and wonderful things.

Duncan, being an old friend, asked me to come and work for him for just one day a week, he was drowning in admin and needed saving. He’s a trickster though, because he knows that once you enter the family of One, you are hooked and one day a week soon becomes a full time living, breathing passion.

Three years on, Global Ethics isn’t just a job, it’s a way of life. From the pride you feel when you hear what you have achieved for thousands of beautiful children in Africa, to the late night emails that the team send while sitting there at 10pm working like a trojan with a glass of wine, to the belly laughs we have in the office. I’m very fortune to work with such an inspiring, passionate bunch of people, who really are my One family.

The Co-operative have been a long standing supporter of The One Foundation, funding over 345 water projects and donating over £269,000 to our East Africa Emergency Appeal through the sale of Fairbourne Springs Water.

News from Malawi

There are certain moments in your life that you never forget - my time in Malawi is one of those moments!!

Last week I was lucky enough to be part of the most incredible trip, where we visited Malawi for four days with staff from our corporate partner, Aimia, to see some of the projects that they have recently funded through supporting One.

Big smiles and fresh, clean water thanks to ARAMARK, Peros and Hugh Baird College

We've just had these lovely photos sent through from our team on the ground, they are from Thandisizwe School in the Eastern Cape. Believe it or not there is a roundabout underneath all of those children!

Thanks to the support of ARAMARK, Peros and Hugh Baird College, and through the sale of One Water, Thandisizwe School now have a reliable source of clean water.

One Water Australia team meets with James O'Connor

Unfortunately, the weather got the better of us on Wednesday, so the James O'Connor rugby training session at St Ignatius, Riverview College couldn't go ahead.

We hope to run this later in the year. James did find time to meet up with Hayley and Mike from the Global Ethics Australia team though, and they updated him on all the exciting One activities coming up in the next few months. James is in Sydney, training for the Wallabies Tri-Nations game against the Springboks this Saturday (23rd July) – best of luck mate – so it was superb to get a bit of time with him. Exciting as well to hear all about his upcoming travels with the Wallabies, especially for the World Cup 2011 in New Zealand.

Not Your ‘Run of the Mill’ Trustee

Typically, trustees are tasked with administrating the funds accrued by a charity, determining how and where they are spent. At The One Foundation, however, our trustees are always prepared to go that extra mile…quite literally!

Amazing presentation from the advertising stars of the future.

About the Author

Hi there, I'm Duncan Goose the founder of Global Ethics, the company behind the One brand and I'm really delighted that occasionally I get to jot down a few thoughts here on our blog.  My background is in marketing but the catalyst for creating Global Ethics happened as a result of a two year motorbike trip around the world between '98 and 2000.

It was an amazing odyssey and I was fortunate to have people all over the world take me under their wing when it went wrong - as it sometimes did.  I learnt a lot about humanity and about the kindness of strangers.

When I left, I knew 3 neighbours in my street in London, and having just moved in London again, I've made a point of getting to know all of them.  I often say that if you knew a neighbour in your street was starving, or dying of HIV, you'd do something to help them and this is kind of what One has started to do - abeit on a global scale.  We're all neighbours, but sometimes we just don't realise it.

We're changing lives, one person, one day at a time.  It's a legacy project - but one we can all be part of.

And it's hugely exciting.
