Closing thoughts on the Chico trip to Malawi Closing thoughts on the Chico trip to Malawi

I find that when you come back from an Insight Trip with One, it takes some time to get the experience out of your head and to settle back down to the normal reality of everyday life – to some extent at least - as to be honest the experience actually never fully leaves you.

Eddie Mullon told me how touching and inspiring the trip was. He left Malawi at the age of 8 for the UK and now lives in New York. This was his first time back for more than 10 years. He said, “You actually forget how things are when you leave a country and in returning so many memories come flooding back. To revisit this amazing country and it’s wonderful people for what it is really brings it home what I am missing.”

For Chico this was his 3rd Playpump but the first two he’s funded in Malawi. His two schools, Kalulu and Livwezi, both in Kasungu district provide clean water for over 2000 pupils and replaced broken pumps at the request of one of the district MP’s.

As always in prose, he said to me “Seeing is believing, tasting is feeling. The place is heartwarming. Come and feel the joy. Come and feed your soul.”

And Robin Tucker, the man behind the camera, simply replied, “In the words of Paul Daniels, ‘it’s magical!’”

And finally, with regard to One Chico added, “Thank you so much to One, without you we would not have been here and it’s made such a difference to us. It’s the beginning of a wonderful relationship.”
