Record-breaking news! Hundreds of school children take part in the Hour of Power using One Water

On Friday the 19th July 2010, more than 750 students and 50 staff assembled on the grounds of Robert Clack School in East London to take part in the Biggest Ever Hour of Power  workout - the first time an entire school body has jointly participated in a professional fitness workout.  Using water bottles as weights, the students pumped away for an hour long session, with not a single student stopping or pulling-out. The class was led by Hour of Power pioneer and BBC Last Man Standing Rajko Radovic, with the assistance of Dr Zoe Williams (Aka 'Amazon' from television series Gladiators).

"Seeing 1600 bottles of water being pumped in time to the music, as the students took on the challenge of completing one of the toughest full-body workouts in the world - and smiling all the way (!)...was nothing short of amazing. I would expect that kind of focus and determination from a sports-team, to see it in an entire student body, and staff too, was the most impressive and inspiring thing I have seen in a long long time."

Each student held two bottles of water (one in each hand) and performed a series of key movements, whilst jogging on the spot, thereby developing not just lower body, but full body fitness - an area which Hour of Power founder Dragan Radovic (61yrs old and unbeaten in 10years of fitness challenges) says is sorely missing in most people's health and fitness.

The water used was One Water, an ethical bottled water that donates 100% of it’s profits to build 'Play Pumps' and provide clean drinking water for schools and communities in underprivileged parts of Africa.
The 1600 bottles used in Friday's exercise class not only encouraged students to keep hydrated but also worked great as hand weights...and at the same time supported children in another continent who have less ready access to clean drinking water.

Friday's record breaking school event was a resounding success on many levels, not least the idea that with the right approach and the right method, our nation's kids do indeed have the desire and the determination to be fit and healthy. And when that is combined with the support of a worthy cause, then we know that people in the UK always come together.

I guess I’m ‘Little Miss Everything’, if you need to know something, come to Nikki. I have a wide range of responsibilities ranging from donor communications, case studies, to supporting the marketing team on various campaigns/projects. Everyday the team have me doing weird and wonderful things.

Duncan, being an old friend, asked me to come and work for him for just one day a week, he was drowning in admin and needed saving. He’s a trickster though, because he knows that once you enter the family of One, you are hooked and one day a week soon becomes a full time living, breathing passion.

Three years on, Global Ethics isn’t just a job, it’s a way of life. From the pride you feel when you hear what you have achieved for thousands of beautiful children in Africa, to the late night emails that the team send while sitting there at 10pm working like a trojan with a glass of wine, to the belly laughs we have in the office. I’m very fortune to work with such an inspiring, passionate bunch of people, who really are my One family.
