Staggering isn’t it? And it’s not just the people with the virus who suffer. HIV/AIDS has far reaching consequences. It negatively impacts on economic growth, increases poverty and, ultimately, tears families and communities apart.

There is currently no vaccine and the only way to prevent infection is to avoid contact with the virus. But the health, quality and length of life for those affected with HIV can be greatly improved with antiretroviral (ARV) treatment. It’s a big issue and it’s not going away in a hurry.
