As you read this, almost one billion people are living without access to safe water supplies and millions walk miles everyday just for something to drink.

When we heard this statistic, we knew something needed to be done. Which is why every single penny of the profit from One Water goes towards funding clean water projects in some of the poorest parts of the world.

Clean water where it's neededClean water where it's needed

We provide a variety of sustainable water solutions for communities most in need.

Several principles drive our clean water supply projects:

  • Multiple solutions - We only use sustainable technologies that are appropriate and are wanted by the communities who will be using them.
  • Multiple partners - We work with a selection of implementing organisations who are experts in their given field
  • Multiple countries - We focus our efforts in those countries that are most in need. This means we work in those countries where over 40% of the population lives in extreme poverty (<$1.25 a day)

Here is a little bit of information about the types of water solutions we use:

  • Rope Pumps - PVC pipe with a rope through it, to which washers are attached which fit in the tube with a small clearance. A wheel above ground pulls the rope with the washers through the pipe. The water is held between the washers in the pipe and is pulled to the surface.
  • Treadle Pump - a foot-powered water pump consisting of two metal cylinders with pistons that are operated by the natural walking motion of two treadles.
  • Rainwater Harvesting - the immediate collection of regular rainwater running off surfaces upon which it has directly fallen
  • Handpump - positive displacement pumps that have reciprocating pistons or plungers. In a piston pump, the piston is fitted with a non-return valve (the piston valve) and slides vertically up and down the cylinder which is also fitted with a non-return valve (the foot valve).

The result?The result?

So far, thanks to people like you who’ve bought One Water, One Vitamin Enhanced Water, One Pure Water filter jugs and One Water Coolers, we’ve been able to change the lives of over 1.5million people in Africa. Instead of walking for hours to collect water, children can go to school and entire communities benefit from access to fresh drinking water.

  • Over 1.5 million people have access to clean water.
  • Thousands have improved sanitation.
  • Over 40 communities have vegetable gardens.
  • Thousands have been given access to life-saving HIV programmes.

And moreAnd more

Beyond quenching a thirst, water can be used to grow crops, help feed families and to generate income. That’s why we also work with partner NGOs (non governmental organisations), to plant vegetable gardens so communities can grow fresh food to eat and sell.
