The PlayPump uses a specially crafted children’s roundabout to pump water from deep underground. So, as children play, fresh clean water is pumped into a storage tank for use by the entire community.

It’s a simple idea but one that is changing the lives of thousands of African people. Now, instead of walking for hours to collect water, children can go to school and entire communities benefit from access to fresh drinking water.

A PlayPump provides a community with a sustainable resource that saves time and energy and facilitates education, hygiene and health. Plus, excess water can be used to irrigate vegetable gardens, giving communities the opportunity to grow and sell their own crops.

The first time we saw a PlayPump in action, we knew we were looking at a way to change the world. That’s why every single penny of the profits from One Water goes towards the installation of these fantastic systems. And water isn’t just about quenching a thirst. It can also be used to grow crops, helping feed families and generate income. That’s why we’re also working with partners like Self Help Africa to provide vegetable gardens.
